Submitted by kannan on Sat, 2007-05-26 01:24. Tourist_Destinations_In_The_world A view of LubljanaI am writing this from Maribor, The seconnd largest city in Slovenia. We landed here on 4 th of May. Actually we landed in a small plane in Lubljana, the capital of Slovenia.(A view of Lubjiana is in the photo)
Slovenia is a small country, and the poplulation is 2 million. It is one of the youngest members of the European Union.
When we landed in Lubljana, the temperature was 12 degree Celsius, So we coming from the summer in India were shivering. At the counter, they verified our passports and also asked us for our invitation.

After the formalities were over, we were taken to his car by our host prof.Sandi Klavser. We just got into the car and suddenly I noticed that the car was a left hand drive.Yes people were driving through the right side of the road. Also he told us that seat belts are compulsory. We need to go to Maribor, nearly 150 kilometers away.

After about one and a half hours, We reached Maribor. The drive was fantastic, There was not much traffic on the road, but we saw trucks and cars cominhg from various other european countries.Slovenia had a good port,The Port of Koper, which is
considered a very important Logistic & Distribution centre for Central and Eastern Europe.

On the way, we saw fiber walls seperating the road and the surroundings. We were told that this was an effort to avoid voice from roads polluting outside. The road has many tunnels, some more that a kilometer long. We passed underneath many hills through thease tunnels.

In the sides one could see houses and bulidings. Being a european country I expected big houses and multistoried flats. But this was not the case. Most of the buildings were independent houses, also with bricks on top.As you can see from the picture.
