A Bridge Across The sky:(Mathur Thottippalam)

Imagine standing on a narrow bridge 103 feet high. Unexpectedly a strong wind from the south pushes you to one side. Swaying coconut palms and gushing Paralayar far below, send butterflies in your stomach. It will take a few minutes to regain normalcy.

This spot not much explored is the famous Mathoor Thottippalam. It is located 46 kms from Thiruvananthapuram.

There is a canal 8 ft wide which runs parallel to the bridge and believe it water at great height flows smoothly and briskly.

First time visitors need courage and nerve of steel to walk across. Slowly walk a few feet. Nature’s grandeur I color and beauty makes you spell bound. Except the whistling of the wind it is absolutely silent. The quietness and beauty provide a healing influence in your mind.

Under the blue vault of the sky, amidst the enchanting greenery streaks of white lines attract your attention. With the aid of binoculars you will identify as lonesome water falls hidden among the Ghats.

Winding down to the banks of paralayar when you look up you see the 1024 ft bridge as a small scale linking two mountains. Huge pillars 28 I numbers support the bridge and the canal. The canal was built to connect the paralayar and Pazhayar to enhance irrigation.

Ideal time to be at Thottippalam is in the morning. If you are there by 7 am you can enjoy the rocks the hills the mountains and the forests turning golden yellow as the first rays of dawn spreads. A route no-13 M bus FROM Thucklay ALSO takes you to Thottippalam. From Thiruvattar you have buses every half an hour to this amazing spot.
