Should an actor like Mohanlal take all the garbage roles offered to him? I feel That it is time for this genius to be choosy, after seenig Chota Mumbai released under the banner of Shree Bhadra Pictures.
All the constituents of a bolywood masala film are successfully mixed and placed before us in this movie. The film is a good entertainer and nothing more...
The story and Screenplay by Benny P Nayarambalam is very weak and at times reduces the emotional effect of moments with irrelevant dialogues.
Mohanlal acts as Vasco Da Gamma called Thala who is a gang leader in cochin. Even though Lal handles the role with ease, but the weak script and dialogues often make his character without any character. The script spoils even the fine moments of his relation with his father.
Sai Kumar shines in his role as an old wrestler, a new type of character different from his earlier father or villain roles. Kalabhavan Mani repeats his villain performance in many other films, in a stereotyped manner. I feel that we like him most as a comedian and that is the crown that fits him.
Bhavana is the heroine playing the role of a bold girl, but whether she is a match for Mohanlal is to be judged by the viewers. Jagathy and Siddique are confined by the comic makeups given to them, Bhiman Raghu has again repeated the police role he is too familiar with. Rajan.P Dev once again proves his calibers as the drunkard father of Bhavana. Indrajith is given much opportunity to act, but he has done his part well.
Vijayaraghavan also takes up a small role of a police officer. Maniyan Pilla Raju, the producer also shows his face in this movie in the minor role of advocate menon. Vijayakumari is okay in her role as the mentally ill mother of the villain.
The movie has very funny dialouges and scenes, but certain patterns gets boring by repetition. The hands of a blissful director are not much seen.
Lyrics by Vayalar Sarathchandra Varma are good, but the lavishness of imagery and background music are a hurdle to enjoy the songs.
The movie is surely entertaining, but it reminds me of a bollywood movie some 10 years back. The same story would have been told in a touching way without all this fuss.Is Anwar Rasheed, the director going in te way of I.V. Sasai mega movies?
