Delhi diary IV :Taj Mahal : By Kannan Balakrishnan

After visiting agra fort, We went out to lunch. Lunch was in a nearby hotel. It was well served and cheap. It took us nearly half an hour to finish Lunch.Also we went to some stores nearby and bought some sweets. Sweets in Agra are famous.Also we saw a model of Taj in one of those shops.

After that our bus moved near to Taj mahal. Parking was a bit far and we have to go by electric bus (Run by battery) from there.Our guide warned us about pickpockets and thieves, but we were safe.

Taj Mahal, was built by Sha jahan,one of the famous emperors in the Mughal dynasty,in memory of his late wife Mumthas mahal after the birth of their fourteenth child.It is considered one of the wonders in the world, and many tourists visit this mounament.It stands by the side of jamuna river.It is built with white marble.For a detailed article on Taj and its beauty see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taj_Mahal.

When we entered the gate, We could enjoy the beauty of Taj.We moved towards the garden and finally walked through the basement of TAJ. We took some photos. There were many professional photographers standing there taking photos in various poses.

Also we went inside, where the tomb of Sha jahan and Mumthas was laid. photography was not permitted inside.

Finally when we walked out I remembered the workers whose hands were chopped of after the construction of Taj Mahal.
